Ice dams & snow damage

Ice dams usually mean heat is escaping into the attic, so insulation and ventilation are checked as well as the roof edge.

What this covers

Leaks from ice dams, heavy snow and freeze-thaw damage to shingles and flashings.

Before the roofer arrives

  • Stay off the roof, especially when it is wet, icy or after a storm.
  • Put buckets under drips and move belongings and electronics away from wet ceilings.
  • Photograph damage inside and, from the ground, outside — useful for an insurance claim.
